Social Media Optimization (SMO) is a bunch of strategies for limelight through social media, social networking websites.
It helps in driving traffic from sources other than search engines and improves search ranking. Bloging is also a part of SMO which I am doing right now. Adding RSS feeds, social book marking, video optimization, classified ads- these are also part of Social Media Optimization which drives instant traffic. It also helps in increasing linkage i.e. back linking which in return improves PR, ranking on search engines.
