How SMO Works?

Due to the recession the market has to suffer a lot, mostly the companies which indulge in online businesses. They are finding several methods in order to maintain their stand. This similar method of survival is also being used greatly in the field of advertising and internet marketing. The advertising professionals have started making use of a new technique which is known as Social Media Optimization (SMO).

SMO is one of the latest techniques which have hit the online dictionary in recent times. Though a lot of people are confused with the concept of SEO and SMO, they need to understand that these two are completely different concepts. There are various websites launched on the internet which are promoted not with the aim to increase trade prospects for the webmaster but to promote social interaction among a large number of people.

These sites, based on the concept of SMO play quite an instrumental role in the promotion and exchange of ideas and thoughts among a large number of people. Some of the most preferred social media sites on the net include MySpace, linkedin, Facebook and Youtube among several others.

However it will be wrong to say that SEO and SMO are not linked at all either. SEO tool helps a website to gain a long and permanent standing in the search results while the SMO technique can be used effectively to create awareness about the particular site and create a buzz of sorts in the online world regarding the particular social website.

There are specific search engines which have been launched in order to cater specifically to the websites based on the method of SMO. Search engines, such as Technorati are specifically designed for the same purpose. Some other techniques which are used under SMO include writing blogs, podcasts and several other methods through which the site can be made linkable.
